The Fender Mustang is an electric guitar by the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, introduced in 1964 as the basis of a major redesign of Fender’s student models then consisting of the Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic. It was produced until 1982 and reissued in 1990.
It attained cult status in the 1990s largely as a result of its use by a number of alternative rock bands. Early examples are generally seen as the most collectable of all the short-scale Fender guitars.
The Mustang features two single coil pickups with an unusual switching configuration, and a unique tremolo arm shared with only its derivative the Jag-Stang. It was originally available in two scale lengths.
The Fender Jazzmaster is an electric guitar that was first introduced at the 1958 NAMM Show and was designed as a more upmarket instrument than the Fender Stratocaster, which was originally to replace the Telecaster model. As its name indicates, it was initially marketed at jazz guitarists but was more commonly played by surf rock guitarists in the early 1960s and, more recently, by alternative rock artists.
The Epiphone Casino is a thinline hollow body electric guitar manufactured by Epiphone, a branch of Gibson. It is the base of the Gibson ES-330 and is traditionally regarded as a budget version of this guitar, even though it is the original version. However, the guitar’s association with guitarists such as John Lennon and Noel Gallagher has caused the popularity of the Casino to rise and it is now considered a classic in its own right.
